The above artist's sketch shows the three main characters in SIZZLE. Frida “Free” Gougan, a 15-year-old singer-songwriter, falls head over heels in love with her 25-year-old guitar teacher Trip Abbott. Trip tries to resist, but Free knows how to get her way. Her best friend Amber thinks she’s playing with fire. But Free doesn’t care. She’d do anything for Trip. Anything.

Joan has written a readers' theater script based on a chapter in the novel. In addition, she has written readers' theater scripts for two other HIP Books novels: Outrage by Tony Varrato and Turf War by Alex Kropp.
